Notorious Drug Trafficker Arrested with Sh7 Million Bhang Consignment in Bomet

Police in Sotik have arrested a suspected drug trafficker and seized 350 kilograms of bhang valued at approximately Sh7 million in a major crackdown on narcotics.

According to police reports, the arrest followed a routine patrol along the Sotik-Kaplong Highway, where officers intercepted a Toyota Isis, registration number KBT 147X. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot, prompting immediate police action.

A search of the car uncovered seven sacks of bhang, which, together with the vehicle, were taken to Sotik Police Station for processing.

Investigators launched a manhunt for the suspect, using forensic leads to trace him to his hideout in Kibra, Nairobi.

The suspect, identified as Diab Asman Bhakit, was arrested and transported back to Sotik, where he is currently in custody awaiting arraignment.

Police have commended the swift response of the patrol team, terming the seizure a significant blow to drug trafficking networks operating in the region. They reiterated their commitment to intensify operations targeting illegal narcotics to protect public safety.
