BY PRUDENCE WANZA- National Transport and Safety Authority(NTSA) has denied claims that it lifted the suspension on modern coast buses following multiple accidents.

NTSA denies allowing the bus company to resume its operations as alluded by the Modern Coast bus who shared a letter stating that they have now been cleared by the Authority.

“This is to notify members of the public that the suspension of Modern Coast Express has not been lifted,” said NTSA through a tweet.

Last week two buses registered under the Modern Coast bus company collided along Nairobi Mombasa highway at Sultan Hamud.

The early morning accident left seven people dead while 60 others have been nursing injuries.

Earlier reports also alleged that the bus company had suffered a previous ordeal at the same date and surprisingly, the same place.

It due to this that NTSA suspended the bus company and has been undergoing serious investigations and inspection including subjecting the drivers to fresh drive tests.

The company’s drivers and conductors are also undergoing refresher courses.

However Modern Coast Express still insists they received the letter from NTSA and they therefore resumed operation and therefore their communication was based on that particular letter.
