NTSA Probes 2NK Sacco After Accident

8 people dead in accident on Eldoret-Webuye road involving a matatu and lorry.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) is set to probe the grisly accident involving a 2NK Sacco matatu.

The Eldoret-Kakamega road accident left eight people dead and others injured.

A stalled trailer and a 14-seater Matatu belonging to 2NK Sacco were involved in the Sunday morning incident.

The Matatu was travelling from Bungoma to Nairobi when it collided with the lorry at Musembe.

According to the NTSA, a technical team comprised of investigators, inspectors, and officials from the National Police Service (NPS) was dispatched to the scene to conduct investigations as part of the Authority’s crash investigation role.

2NK Sacco is set to be probed to ascertain why the matatu was operating on a route that was not on their registered destinations.

The accident site has been documented so that the cause of the event can be determined and relevant recommendations can be made.

The statement added, “The situation has been documented in order to determine the cause of the accident and give relevant advice.”

Police in the region were unable to determine the cause of the early morning crash on the road, but they initiated an inquiry.
