The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has relaunched its Self Service Mobile application with an aim of improving access to information.

In a statement released on Friday, May 20, NTSA said the aim of expanding the platform is to accommodate the verification of boda-boda certificates and driving school instructor licenses in order to improve service efficiency.

“The re-launch has seen an expansion of the NTSA App’s capabilities from supporting the public transport sector to accommodating verification of Boda Boda certificates and driving school instructor licences,” the statement read.

According to NTSA, the rollout comes at a time when the Authority has re-engineered its operational processes, revamped the Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS), synchronized all services and provided access all in a bid to provide quality services to the public.

Other features on the new online platform include Complaint Management, TIMS inquiries, and access to information.

“The NTSA App provides a simple and secure licenceverification platform and is purposed to bring a personalized service experience to clients,” NTSA added.

NTSA has assured that the app is free and user-friendly, and is designed to provide real-time information to clients.

The details that are verifiable on the new system include matatusacco or company details, motor vehicle inspection status, road service licence to ascertain the eligibility of a vehicle to operate as a PSV, PSV badge details for the individual driver, and night travel licenses.

To verify details of Matatu Sacco/Company, Kenyans will use the information provided on the body of the vehicle.

In the case of motor Vehicle Inspection status, Kenyans and enforcement officers will use the registration number of the vehicle to know whether it has been inspected in line with the law.

The App can scan the QR code on the E-Sticker provided by the Authority.

Drivers’ details will be verified using the national identification number. The details provided by the App include; the status of the DL (valid or expired), the expiry date and the DL categories.

The re-launch of the NTSA Self Service App is part of the authority’s reform agenda that is focused on service efficiency, reliability and convenience.

This comes after the authority announced the resumption of seven critical services that had been suspended since February 13.
