Margaret Chweya, the widow of late Cabinet Minister Simeon Nyachae, has denied reports that she was previously married to four men, as claimed by her stepson Leon Nyachae.
Margaret claims in an affidavit submitted in connection with a dispute in which the family is battling for Nyachae’s multi-billion-dollar estates that she married Simeon Nyachae before Leon Nyachae was born and also before Leon’s mother, Grace Wamuyu, was known to the late Nyachae.
Margaret pleaded with Leon in court filings to leave the matters to the spouses (mothers), claiming that it is a struggle of women, not children.
“What the children have done is erase Simeon Nyachae beneficiaries like the entire American-based family and they have sold some of the properties,” reads court papers.
According to Leon, a family-commissioned investigation revealed that Margaret had two spouses, Jacob Machuki Mokaya and Michael Pondo Migowa, who live in Kenya, and two others, George Gordon Odera and James Leroy Totten, who live in the United States.
Through her lawyers, the woman and her family which is based in the US say that she has never been married to Mokaya and Migowa.
“THAT I have never been married to Mr. Michael Pondo nor have I been married to Mr. Jacob Machuki. There has never been any dowry paid to my stepmother Agnes Kerubo/Kemunto,” reads the affidavit.
