Nyandarua MCA Beth Wahito Dies in Tragic Night Crash

Beth Wahito, a nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Nyandarua County, has died in a road accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.

According to police and county officials, the accident occurred at around 11:00pm on Saturday night as Wahito was returning home from a budget committee meeting held in Naivasha.

Confirming the incident, Nyandarua County Assembly Speaker Stephen Wachira Waiganjo said the MCA’s vehicle was struck by a Guardian Angel bus while she was attempting to cross the road at an intersection. She died on the spot.

“She led with courage, strength and determination,” Speaker Waiganjo said in an official statement.

“She was not afraid to speak up for what she believed was right and worked tirelessly to uplift the lives of the underserved in her community.”

Wahito was a seasoned figure in Nyandarua politics, with a public service career that spanned over 30 years.

She previously held leadership positions in the Democratic Party, served as NARC-Kenya’s Nyandarua Chairperson, and most recently coordinated UDA activities in Kinangop.

Her sudden death has sent shockwaves across Nyandarua and the broader political landscape, with tributes pouring in from colleagues, community members, and fellow politicians.

The wreckage of her car was towed to Naivasha Police Station, where investigations are ongoing.

Wahito is remembered as a vocal advocate for women’s empowerment and rural development.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family and Nyandarua County Assembly in the coming days.
