Noah Mwivanda, the newly appointed Nyanza Regional Police Commander (RPC), has been recalled just a week after reporting to the office in Kisumu.
Mwivanda was replaced by the director of Welfare Directorate Manasse Musyoka, officials aware said.
Musyoka who is a former commander for Central and Coast regions reported on Tuesday and was set to take over Wednesday, April 5.
A dispatch containing the changes was communicated on Tuesday, according to a source within the police ranks, and Mwivanda is now expected to hand over the office with immediate effect.
Mwivanda was assigned to the region last week on Tuesday, following the ongoing Azimio protests, succeeding Karanja Muiruri, who had also been recalled to Vigilance House.
Musyoka had previously served as the RPC in charge of the Central and Coast regions, as well as as the Migori county police commander.
Karanja, who has since reported to the Nairobi Police Headquarters, is now the Deputy Director in charge of logistics.
