Nyayo Stadium Sells Out Ahead of Harambee Stars Clash with Gabon

All tickets for the highly anticipated FIFA World Cup Qualifier between Kenya’s Harambee Stars and Gabon, set for Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Nyayo National Stadium, have officially sold out.

The sellout follows calls from both the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and passionate fans urging Kenyans to rally behind the national team in large numbers.

In a statement on X, FKF expressed gratitude to supporters for their overwhelming response:

“All tickets for our FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Gabon are officially sold out! Your unwavering support means everything. Let’s paint Nyayo red, black, and green this Sunday. Come cheer the team on — your energy could make all the difference!”

The excitement comes on the heels of an impressive comeback by Harambee Stars, who fought from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw against The Gambia on Thursday night at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan. The first half ended goalless, thanks in part to a crucial penalty save by goalkeeper Ian Otieno.

Despite Kenya’s strong sporting culture, local stadiums have often struggled with low attendance during matches. However, Sunday’s sold-out fixture reflects a renewed spirit of support, with fans eager to back the national team in their pursuit of a historic first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance.

Harambee Stars currently sit fourth in Group F with six points from three matches, trailing group leaders Ivory Coast by 12 points.
