600 cancer patients at the Nyeri Hospice have benefitted from a handsome donation by Nyeri police officers as an early Christmas gift.

The policemen, led by Inspector David Waweru of Nyeri Central Police Station, said their gesture was a way for them to celebrate Christmas with the less fortunate in society.

“Contrary to popular belief, police officers are also human beings, we also experience challenges like everyone else. These are our parents, brothers and sisters and they are also our friends. That is why we came here to share the little we have with them as we celebrate this festive season.” said Waweru.

Waweru admitted that the Covid-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on many families, particularly those caring for terminally ill patients, and urged community members to help those in need.

Ten bales of maize flour, five bales of wheat flour, 325 kilograms of rice, two cartons of cooking oil, and a variety of other non-food items were among the offerings.
