Nzioka Lauds Machakos Voters, Takes Break From Politics

Nzioka Waita, a former Machakos County gubernatorial contender, has taken a break from politics.

Waita, who served as former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Chief of Staff, made the news on social media on Friday, saying he was leaving politics to focus on his personal development and advancement.

“As the New Year beckons, I will be taking a break from politics to focus on my personal & professional growth. I will continue to contribute to our nation’s development and well-being as a private citizen.”

He commended Machakos locals for turning out in big numbers to vote for him despite the fact that he was a political newcomer.

Waita, who ran on the Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU) party platform, received 129,181 votes in the August polls, while Wiper’s Wavinya Ndeti received 226,609 votes to win.

Despite officially admitting loss and congratulating Wavinya on her victory as governor during the elections, Waita blamed tribal politics as the reason for his inability to secure the county’s top position when announcing his split.

“You ignored the insults, the juvenile propaganda & voted for me in spite of the fact that I didn’t speak fluent Kikamba. For this, I am eternally grateful. We did well, we hammered seasoned politicians at the ballot & put the fear of God in the old order by putting the people first,” he stated.
