A police investigation has linked Obado’s personal assistant to Sharon Otieno’s murder.
During the hearing of Obado’s murder case today, the Court was informed that personal assistant to Migori County governor Zachary Obado, was arrested after reporting the kidnapping of the late lady Sharon.
Corporal Phelimon Fedalis told Justice Cecilia Githua that Michael James Oyamo reported Sharon’s kidnapping from the Grass Hotel in Rongo subcounty to Uriri police station on September 4th, 2018.
The witness told the court that Oyamo had told him that he was supposed to meet Sharon Otieno at the hotel on September 3rd, 2018, but when he arrived, she was with someone he didn’t know.
The witness stated that Oyamo told him that he sat next to a table where Sharon sat, and that the two later walked outside the hotel, entered a waiting taxi, and proceeded to Homabay.
The officer told the court that while recording information from Oyamo, he received a call from the area OCPD Benjamin Mwanzia, who summoned him to his office.
Upon arrival, the OCPD handed him his phone to read the message on Whatsapp, which contained information about the kidnapping.
The officer stated that the incident was reported at the Kadel Police Station, transferred to Kendubay, and then transferred to Homabay County.
He said that a local journalist had revealed the kidnapping’s details.
The witness claimed that the OCPD had given him orders to take action against Oyamo, who he later discovered was in custody.
The officer was testifying in a murder case against Migori County governor Obado, his personal assistant Oyamo, and Casper Obiero.
