Chris Obure, the Transport Chief Administrative Secretary, will face allegations of misappropriating public monies totaling a billion shillings in the Anglo-Leasing bribery affair, which surfaced in early 2000.
In a judgment issued on Friday, Trial Magistrate Anne Mwangi established a prima facie case against Obure.
Obure is accused of misappropriating Sh928 million in the procurement of VSAT for the Kenya Postal Corporation (PCK).
The Chief Administrative Secretary’s lawyer, Gibson Kimani, requested more time to speak with his client on how to proceed with the case.
Former Postmaster-General Francis Chahonyo, former Transport PS Sammy Kyungu, and ex-Finance Secretary Samuel Bundotich were all indicted in March 2015.
The suspects face charges of abuse of office and breach of trust.
Several people of interest, including former Internal Security Minister Chris Murungaru and his then-principal Secretary David Mwangi, were examined by detectives on the case, according to the court.
