Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Oburu Odinga visited Kibera during the party’s first official public rally at Kamukunji Grounds.
During the visit, Oburu supported residents whose shops were destroyed in an overnight demolition.
The Siaya Senator gave the donation during a public consultative forum regarding pertinent party issues on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
The gesture comes after residents reported losing property and income during the operation, prompting political and community leaders to step in.
In his remarks, Oburu Odinga assured residents that he would provide financial support to help them recover from the destruction.
“Nitawapatia 3 million wale ambao manyumba zao zilibomolewa. Nitawapatia on top of ile ilitolewa,” he stated.
He further emphasised his commitment to standing with the community during challenging times.

The donation of Ksh3 million will be distributed to affected business owners to restore livelihoods and maintain economic activity within Kibera.
In the same forum, Oketch Salah also donated Ksh2 million, which he said will be distributed to the demolition victims both in Kibera and Lang’ata.
Their business structures were brought down early Wednesday, January 14, 2026. The crackdown primarily targeted car wash facilities and food outlets situated along the corridor, with the area being cleared for the construction of a train station linking the Nairobi Central Business District to Nyayo Stadium and Talanta Stadium along Ngong Road.
Among those affected is Governor Kimani Wamatangi, whose carpet cleaning and carwash business opposite Nyayo Stadium was demolished under heavy police presence.
The demolished structures are thought to have been erected on land belonging to Kenya Railways, which is planning to redevelop the area ahead of AFCON 2027.
