Kenya Airways has warned passengers of anticipated traffic disruptions on major roads leading to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024.

The national carrier is advising customers to arrive at the airport at least four hours before their scheduled flight departure time to avoid potential delays.

This is due to the expected congestion on the roads, which may cause some flights to be delayed.

“Customers are encouraged to plan extra time to avoid potential delays enroute to the airport,” a statement from Kenya Airways reads.

“We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and assure you that the safety and well-being of our crew and customers is our number one priority.”

Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has issued a warning to passengers to arrive early to avoid potential delays.

The warning comes amid reports that Gen Z protesters are planning to storm the airport, with some social media posts indicating that they may shift their usual demonstrations in the Central Business District (CBD).

This marks the fourth week of protests by Kenyan Gen Zs against the Finance Bill 2024, which has led to clashes with authorities and the burning of a section of Parliament.

The protests have also resulted in injuries and fatalities among demonstrators.

The KAA advised passengers scheduled to fly out on Tuesday to arrive at the airport early to allow for additional security checks and protocols.
