The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party has announced the burial arrangements of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s younger sister, Beryl Achieng, who died on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
According to a statement released on Monday, December 1, 2025, the ODM party has confirmed that the deceased will be laid to rest on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Kang’o ka Jaramogi, a family cemetery where the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was also buried on Sunday, October 19, 2025 in Bondo, Siaya County.
The ODM party has also confirmed that a requiem mass for the late Achieng shall be held tomorrow at the Consolata Shrine in Westlands, Nairobi, on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
”The late Ms Beryl Achieng’ Odinga, who rested on the 26th November 2025 (last month), will be laid to rest this Saturday, the 6th of December 2025, at the family home in Nyamira, Kang’o ka Jaramogi in Bondo Constituency of Siaya County. A requiem mass shall be held tomorrow at the Consolata Shrine in Westlands on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025,” ODM said via X.
Kisumu County Woman Representative Ruth Odinga, who also happens to be the deceased’s blood sister, confirmed the news of Bery Achieng’s death while concealing its cause.
Beryl was the daughter of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Kenya’s first Vice President and Mary Ajuma Oginga. She was a mother to three children, Ami, Auma, Chizi, and Taurai.
“It is with a heavy heart, but accepting the will of God, we announce the sudden passing of Beryl Achieng Odinga. Daughter of the late Hon. Jaramogi Odinga and Mama Mary Ajuma Oginga. Mother to Ami Auma, Chizi and Taurai,” the statement read in part.
Following the demise of Beryl Achieng, leaders across the political divide have consoled the Odinga family.
The ODM deputy party leader, Abdulswammad Nassir, has paid tribute to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s younger sister, adding that the late Achieng will be remembered for her grace, warmth and the quiet strength with which she carried herself.
“Beryl will be remembered for her grace, warmth and the quiet strength with which she carried herself. She leaves behind a legacy reflected in her children and in the many lives she touched with kindness and humility. May God grant the Odinga family patience, comfort and strength in this difficult period. May He envelop them in His peace and grant Beryl’s soul eternal rest,” Abdulswammad Nassir said.
