ODM Faults Gachagua, Kalonzo For Peddling Fake News on Raila Health

The Raila Odinga Secretariat has dismissed reports about the ODM leader’s health as “a familiar campaign of misinformation” allegedly engineered by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and former CS Eugene Wamalwa.

In a statement signed by Raila’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango, the team accused Gachagua and his allies of spreading falsehoods using bloggers and sympathetic media outlets.

Onyango claimed the misinformation mirrors earlier attacks against Raila during his bid for the African Union Commission chairmanship.

“The hope of this team then and now is to bully Hon. Raila to provide a back form to ride on in their struggle against President William Ruto,” the statement read.

Onyango clarified that Raila was not indisposed, nor had he travelled to Europe for treatment, as reported by some outlets. He said Raila travelled out of the country on Friday evening for one of his many routine trips.

“Home or away, Hon. Raila remains committed to the ideals of the Broad-Based Government,” Onyango added, stressing that Raila’s health was not a matter of concern.

The statement reaffirmed that Raila continues to champion national unity and dialogue despite what it termed as “frustrated opponents.”
