ODM Confident On Clean Sweep In Kilifi

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) politicians in Kilifi on Sunday held a mega rally where they focused on how they will transform the county.

The leaders led by ODM gubernatorial candidate Gideon Mungaro further told the residents in Kilifi to reject both the Pamoja African Alliance(PAA) and the United Democratic Alliance(UDA) politicians they said were to blame for the underdevelopment of the region.

Those present at the rally at  Water ground in Kilifi town included Senator Stewart Madzayo, County Woman Rep Gertrude Mbeyu.

Kilifi North MP aspirant Eliud Kalama and Malindi MP aspirant Amina Mnyazi are among a host of MCA aspirants.

While addressing the residents, Mr  Mungaro promised to address the issue of healthcare, neglected infrastructure, water scarcity and food security.

He also blamed incumbent Governor Amason Kingi for what he said was a runaway corruption in his administration said led to the collapse of important sectors.

“It is no longer a secret that most services at the Kilifi county government have literally gone on their knees because of lack of funding. Work morale among staff in several departments is down because their needs are not properly cared for and that is unfair,” said Mr Mungaro.

He said that most health facilities within the region including the Kilifi County hospital lack medicines that have affected many services. I want to tell the people of Kilifi that we have mapped different areas for intervention which includes equipping the health facilities with medicines in the 100 days in office,” he said.

Mr Mungaro who is battling for the seat with George Kithi of PAA and Aisha Jumwa of UDA said runaway corruption had affected service delivery and promised to sack all corrupt officers once elected as a Governor.

“This corruption menace that had derailed services at the devolved government will end within my tenure. Cases where staffs only report in the morning and then ran away from serving the people will come to an end. My administration will not allow that to happen,” said Mr Mungaro.

Senator Madzayo said the county was lucky after the Senate approves more allocation of Sh2.9 billion, hence making it the top county in terms of allocation.

“I worked hard at the Senate and the county is now among the top counties in terms of allocation. That now means more service delivery to the people,” said Mr Madzayo.

The Senator also poked holes in Governor Kingi s administration, adding that despite the county getting huge allocations.

“There is a lot of corruption in the county government. Money is stolen in bags and that has left most people poor and without any help. The only person who shall end that challenge is Mr Mungaro.

Ms Mbeyu said that in order for the county to enhance development, the only option is by electing Mr Mungaro.

“We should reject all Kingi s projects that are in UDA and PAA. These are the people who have fleeced this county left-right and we should not give them another chance,” she said.

Mr Kalama and Ms Mnyazi also called for total rejection of UDA and PAA politicians in Kilifi of at all of the community wants to see a change in development.
