In Kisii County, police officials stormed the hotel of ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna in search of ODM Treasurer Timothy Bosire spent the night in the executive wing of the hotel, according to ODM’s social media accounts, prepared to observe the by-election.
“Police have cordoned off Ufanisi Resort where ODM Party officials SG Sifuna and Treasurer Bosire together with some of our candidate’s agents spent the night.,” ODM said on social media.
“Over 40 cops, armed to the tooth, in uniform & plainclothes have stormed Ufanisi Resort, Kisii to arrest ODM Treasurer Tim Bosire for no apparent reason. One of the officers (a top cop) has been spotted with money that they intended to dump in his room to claim he was dishing out.” Edwin Sifuna tweeted.
He claims the officers were sent to frustrate ODM’s chances at the election in favor of a candidate backed by Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i.
Earlier on, the Secretary General said he saw marked ballots presented at polling stations.
This comes a day after Sifuna claimed that there are four boxes full of marked ballots stuffed at a senior politician’s residence in Kisii town.
Pavel Oimoke, the party’s candidate, is up against Zebedeo Opore of Jubilee and Teresa Bitutu of the United Democratic Alliance.
Bititu is the wife of Oroo Oyioka, the late local MP who died on February 15 after a long battle with an unexplained illness.
Sifuna chastised the government for reportedly manipulating the police to help Jubilee’s Opore.
