ODPP wants court to defer plea taking for 2 senior police officers for 30 days

Today, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions made an application before Milimani Law Courts Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina to have a plea taking against two senior police officers deferred for 30 days.

According to the prosecution, the DPP would like to review the charges against the police officers before they can answer to the charges levelled against them.

The two officers Rebecca Njeri Muraya and Sergeant Abdisalam Ahmed were expected to take plea today in an alleged order to unlawfully arrest Ayni Hussein Mahammud who was allegedly detained at Muthaiga police station for two days.

According to the intended charge sheet, the detention was allegedly a way of intimidating her from pursuing her assault complaint allegedly against Abdihakim Saidi Jama.

The case will be mentioned on March 19, 2025.
