Two medical officers testified in the murder trial of Migori Governor Okoth Obado and two others today that they faked Obado’s personal assistant Michael Oyamo’s medical records without first examining him.
This was done hours after Sharon Otieno of Rongo University and her unborn child were killed.
“All the medical documents were forgeries…I am the one who did the forgeries and received sh 1500… I regret my actions,” said one of the witnesses, Cliff Momanyi during the hearing.
After the murder of Sharon, Justus Magati Moindi claimed that Caspal and Oyamo approached him about helping them acquire the necessary documentation so that Oyamo could receive treatment in Kisumu at a facility where his insurance would cover the cost and guarantee his employment.
According to the witness, he was told that Oyamo was attacked by unknown people and he had a lot of money belonging to his boss the Govornor whish was stolen.
“When the two came, Caspal told me that they had a problem and they wanted to see me privately. I asked whether it was related to medical treatment and they said yes, I asked them to go and buy a card at the reception but they told me before they could buy, they wanted to talk to me,” Moindi told the court.
It was revealed during the hearing that Cliff Momamnyo asserted he had been given a token of 1,500 shillings as a thank-you gift for helping to forge the document.

The medical report was to state that Oyamo had suffered multiple blunt injuries as a result of an unidentified person assaulting him.
Cliff Momanyi, a Kisii Referral Hospital employee and former classmate of Moindi’s at the university, is said to have written the report.
He said in court, “He asked for Oyamo’s details so I handed over the phone to Oyamo who explained to him his details.
When asked why he asked his coworker Momanyi to draft the paperwork. He claimed that the reason was that Oyamo was a friend of his and that he was helping him because he had informed him that he would soon lose his job.
