Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho to be laid to rest on April 10

A committee overseeing the funeral arrangements of the late Ol Kalou Member of Parliament, David Kiaraho, has announced that he will be laid to rest on Friday, April 10, 2026.

According to the funeral planning committee chairperson Kwenya Thuku, the burial will take place at the late legislator’s farm in Tigoni, in line with his final wishes.

Speaking on Monday after the committee’s second meeting held at the late MP’s residence in Runda, Nairobi, Thuku said the decision honors Kiaraho’s personal request.

“Our departed brother will be laid to rest in his farm in Tigoni. He often retreated there to relax, reflect, and unwind, and it is where he expressed his wish to be buried,” Thuku said.

The committee announced that a church service will be held in Ol Kalou on Tuesday, April 7, giving constituents an opportunity to pay their last respects.

Another service will also be conducted at St. Andrew’s Church.

The late Kiaraho was serving his third term as the MP for Ol Kalou Constituency, having first been elected to the National Assembly in the 2013 general election.

During his tenure, he served as a member of the Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure as well as the Procedure and House Rules Committee.

Reports indicated that the legislator passed away while undergoing medical care, although details surrounding his illness were not immediately disclosed.

Kiaraho’s death was confirmed by the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.

“It is with profound sorrow that I hereby notify Members of the National Assembly and the entire parliamentary fraternity of the untimely demise of the member for Ol Kalou, the late MP David Njuguna Kiaraho, who passed away today, Sunday, March 29, 2026, at around 20 minutes past 1 am while undergoing treatment at the Nairobi Hospital,” Wetang’ula said.

David Njuguna Kiaraho is a Kenyan politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou Constituency in Nyandarua County since 2013.

Kiaraho was serving his third term as the Member for Ol Kalou Constituency having been first elected to the National Assembly during the 2013 General Elections

He has been re-elected in subsequent general elections, including in 2017 and 2022.

Before joining politics, and alongside his political career, he has worked as an architect and has been associated with Archgrid Systems as a principal architect since 1994.

In Parliament, Kiaraho has served in various committees, including the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works, and Housing, as well as the Procedure and House Rules Committee.

His areas of focus have included infrastructure development, housing, transport, energy, and urban planning.

He has been affiliated with the Jubilee Party during his time in elective politics and is known for his long-standing representation of Ol Kalou Constituency.
