Maina Wilfred Olwenya, a well-known Nairobi Half Life actor, collapsed died on Monday, July 4.
Olwenya, who portrayed Oti in the 2012 film, was confirmed dead after being brought to a Nairobi hospital.
The cause of his death is unknown, and his family is anticipated to provide more details about what happened.
“Kenyan Actor Olwenya Maina, popular for his role ‘Oti’ in Nairobi Half Life film is dead. He collapsed and was pronounced dead at the hospital,” KTN news anchor Brian George announced.
Olwenya works as a voice-over artist in many commercials in addition to appearing as one of the main characters in Nairobi Half Life.
He did voice-overs for radio stations such as Radio Africa Group and Radio Jambo.
Kenyans went to social media to pay tribute to the media personality, whom many referred to as a rising star.
Maina Kageni, a Classic FM radio host, expressed his appreciation for the actor, saying he had a bright career ahead of him.
“We’ll miss you here at Radio Africa… among the very best voices in East Africa…. great actor, superb talent!!!! Recalling your outstanding role in the movie Nairobi Half-life… what a game-changer you were, big boss! Rest In Peace,” he eulogised.
