Kenya’s World and Olympic champion Conseslus Kipruto has been charged with what is known in Kenya as defilement after it is alleged that he had sex with someone under the age of consent.- By Enock Mukoma
According to court files seen by Uzalendo News, Kipruto committed the offence against a 15-year old girl last month in Nandi county.
Kipruto, the two-time 3000m steeplechase World champion, who was arrested November 11, denied the charges and was released on a bail of 200,000 Kenyan shilling.
A crowd of protesters carrying placards had gathered outside the court’s premises from early morning, demanding justice for the 15-year-old.
The case has been scheduled for hearing in May 10, 2021.
