Ferdinand Omanyala faces last-minute travel plans after he was finally granted the American visa to travel for the World Athletics Championships which begins Friday 15th in Eugene, Oregon.
The African record holder is in the entry list for the 100m event at the championships which begin at 10:30pm Kenyan time.
He is due to jet out of the country at 6 o’clock pm for the trip of 24 hours or more, meaning he will barely arrive in time with Athletics Kenya reportedly petitioning to have the heats to buy him more time.
The Kenyan teams had been due to leave for the United States in two batches on Monday and Tuesday, but several members including Omanyala did not receive visas.
Omanyala is the third-quickest man in the world this season behind Americans Fred Kerley and Trayvon Bromell, setting a time of 9:85 in May.
