At least 731 kilograms of bhang estimated to be worth KES 21 million was on Wednesday seized in Mtwapa, Kilifi County.
During the operation, one person was arrested, while five others managed to flee.
The drugs, according to Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) in Mtwapa George Madolio, were intended for sale to individuals in Mtwapa and the surrounding areas.
According to the OCPD, drug abuse and trafficking have become prevalent in Mtwapa, primarily affecting the local youth.
“We are not going to sleep, we are going to be up and down and ensure that we bring each and everyone to book that our kids are safe,” Madolio said.
The police in the Mtwapa area have urged residents to immediately report any suspected criminal activity to the local authorities.
