Police officers from Rubati Police Post, in collaboration with National Government Administration Officers from Karamani Location, on Monday conducted a crackdown targeting illicit alcohol in the Karamani area of Tharaka Nithi County.
During the operation, one suspect was arrested after being found in possession of 40 litres of an illicit brew known locally as “Unga’re.” The suspect was taken into custody and is being held at the police station pending arraignment in court.
Authorities said the seized brew was secured at the station as an exhibit.
In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) urged members of the public to refrain from consuming illicit brews, warning that they pose serious health risks. The service reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining nationwide operations to eliminate the manufacture, sale, and consumption of illegal alcohol.
