One person has been confirmed dead and 12 others injured after a Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanker lost control and rammed into several vehicles including a 14-seater matatu at the Mai Mahiu escarpment on Wednesday, September 11.
Preliminary reports indicate that the matatu belonging to Galaxy Sacco was knocked from behind and as a result overturned and rolled down the escarpment.
One of the two other vehicles that were involved in the accident was ferrying mourners to a burial in Rongo, Homa Bay County.
Following the accident, well-wishers and rescuers rushed to the scene to help the injured passengers.
The injured were rushed to hospital for immediate medical attention.
