A Modern Coast-branded bus has plunged into the Nyakomisaro River in Masosa, Kisii County, injuring several passengers.
The bus, according to preliminary accounts, went off the road on Wednesday, December 28, before plunging into the river.
Locals and police officers raced to the spot to assist in the rescue effort.
Kisii Central police chief Amos Ambasa reported that one person died and those injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.
According to preliminary reports, the bus was on its way to Tanzania from Mombasa when it lost control and crashed into the Kisii River.
