Celebrations in France took a tragic turn on Sunday night after a car rammed into a group of pedestrians celebrating Paris Saint-Germain’s historic UEFA Champions League victory.
The incident occurred on Cours Jean-Jaurès in Grenoble, southeast France, where four members of the same family — including two women and a man — were seriously injured. Authorities say the car’s driver fled the scene but was arrested shortly afterward and remains in custody.
Grenoble officials said the vehicle “apparently lost control,” though the motive remains under investigation. Emergency services responded quickly, with 30 firefighters and a SAMU 38 medical team rushing the victims to Grenoble Alpes University Hospital.
PSG fans had flooded the streets across France to mark the club’s first-ever Champions League triumph, making the incident all the more shocking.
Local police are yet to confirm whether the crash was accidental or deliberate. The scene has been secured as investigations continue.
