On Wednesday, security personnel shot and killed one person in the troubled Chesegon area, which borders West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties.
Pokot Central Sub County Police Commandant Nelson Omwenga confirmed the incident, saying security officers were patrolling the area when they spotted four unknown armed men heading towards Elgeyo Marakwet.
According to Omwenga, the officers immediately confronted the suspected criminals, resulting in an exchange of gunfire on Wednesday afternoon.
He stated that the 40-year-old man was killed after a fierce battle with police officers. One illegal firearm was also recovered.
The multi-agency security team has moved to stop the unending killings and cattle theft.
