Fans of One Piece will have to wait a little longer for the next chapter, as publisher Shueisha has announced an unexpected one-week hiatus, pushing the release of Chapter 1162 from October 6 to a later date.
The break comes after the publication of Chapter 1161 in Weekly Shonen Jump on September 29, 2025.
While no official reason was provided, the delay has sparked concern and speculation among fans, many referencing past health-related breaks by series creator Eiichiro Oda—including those in 2024 and as recently as August 2025.
Oda has openly discussed the physical demands of producing a weekly manga and has previously taken time off for surgery and recovery.
In addition to the manga pause, the One Piece anime adaptation is also scheduled for a two-week hiatus in October, leaving fans with a rare content gap across both mediums.
Despite the disappointment, the One Piece community has responded with overwhelming support for Oda, emphasizing the importance of his health over deadlines.
With the manga nearing its final saga, anticipation remains high but so does fans’ patience and respect for the legendary creator.
Chapter 1162 is now expected to return in the October 13, 2025 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, though official confirmation is still pending.
