Former Kisii Governor James Ongwae has dumped Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition party for Kenya kwanza camp.
Ongwae led at least eight former members of Parliament from Kisii and Nyamira counties for a meeting with President-elect William Ruto at his Karen residence.
“We have had a fruitful meeting with the President-elect and told him that we are ready to work with him and support his government,” Ongwae said.
Also part of the delegation set to meet with Dr. Ruto is ex-Kisii Woman Representative Janet Ong’era.
Ong’era is the former ODM executive director. She lost the Kisii seat to Doris Donya of Wiper.
Other leaders are; Ex-MPs Jimmy Angwenyi (Kitutu Chache North), Zepedeo Opere (Bonchari), Ben Momanyi (Borabu), Manson Nyamweya (South Mugirango), Zadock Ogutu (Bomachoge Borabu) and Stephen Manoti (Bobasi).
Nyamweya is the leader of the KNC party while Momanyi is a Wiper member.
Also accompanying Ongwae was the Abagusii council of elders chairman John Matundura and former Transport Chief Administrative secretary Chris Obure and ex-Nyamira woman representative candidate Emily Nyagarama.
“As a community, we are ready to work with the President-elect,” Ongwae said.
