Kenya has directed Pilots and crew members flying into the country to stay quarantined in their hotels or rooms apart from emergency reasons when international travel restarts on August 1st.
Strict health protocols published by the Ministry of Tourism and the Health Ministry show that only bedroom service meals and drinks are going to be allowed to flight crew members within the facilities.
“To make sure that risk of exposure to crew members through contact with the local population is minimized, the subsequent measures will apply; at the resting facilities (hotel) the crew members shall not be allowed to go away the hotel facility or rooms apart from emergency reasons,” the Magical Kenya Tourism and Travel Health and Safety Protocols state.
The new protocols, tabled within the Senate by Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala require airlines to move their crew to hotels or other places of accommodation by ensuring a minimum separation of 1 seat between crew members.
“The airline shall make sure that crews don’t share the transport with any passengers or other airline crew,” the principles, aimed toward containing the spread of Covid-19 pandemic states.
However, it is unclear if Kenya Airways will be forced to implement these guidelines.
