Will Smith punched comedian Chris Rock in the face on stage at the Oscars after the comedian made a joke about the actor’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
The fight erupted after Rock joked about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, starring in the next G.I. Jane film.
Smith walked up on stage and appeared to strike Rock before returning to his seat and shouting, “Keep my wife’s name out of your… mouth.”
Pinkett Smith is well-known for her iconic shaved head style, which she wears because she suffers from the hair loss condition alopecia.
Smith went on to apologize to the audience but distinctly left out apologizing to Rock.
“I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees. This is a beautiful moment and I’m not crying for winning an award,” Smith said.
However, he may lose his award after the Academy condemned Will Smith’s actions.
