Outrage in Juja as MP George Koimburi Goes Missing

Tension is rising in Juja following the mysterious disappearance of area MP George Koimburi, who was reportedly seized by individuals believed to be security agents shortly after a public bursary event at Gachororo Primary School on Friday.

Koimburi is said to have narrowly escaped a high-speed car chase involving his official vehicle before fleeing the scene on a motorbike.

His driver was allegedly detained and taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters before being released later that night.

Lawyers representing the embattled MP have condemned the incident, terming it a brazen violation of legal procedure and a direct defiance of a court order.
“Our client had secured an injunction barring any arrest in connection with pending forgery charges filed in February. What happened in Juja was not only unlawful, but it was also politically motivated,” one of the lawyers said.

Residents of Juja have joined the chorus of concern, staging protests and demanding answers from the government regarding the whereabouts of their elected representative.

Hundreds gathered at Juja Farm on Saturday, where Koimburi was scheduled to continue bursary disbursement, only to be met by silence and confusion.

“This is an attempt to silence voices that speak for the people,” said one resident. “We demand his immediate release or a clear explanation from the authorities.”

The government has yet to issue a formal statement regarding Koimburi’s disappearance.

This latest incident comes amid growing political tension in Mt. Kenya, with leaders warning against the misuse of state machinery to intimidate dissenting voices.
