The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) stated on Tuesday that in the 2021/2022 cycle, 265,145 students will pursue degree and TVET programs.
Dr. Agnes Wahome, KUCCPS Chief Executive Officer (CEO), announced that 137,072 of them were placed in TVETs, while 128,073 will pursue degree programs.
According to Dr. Wahome, the total number of candidates who sat for the KCSE examination increased by 7% from 688,927 in 2019 to 737,527 in 2020.
“Students who qualified for degree and diploma programs improved their performance by 14% and 33%, respectively. “In comparison to the last placement cycle, there was more competition among students for placement this time around,” she said.
According to the KUCCPS director, several students missed the three opportunities to apply and amend their courses, and therefore missed out on placement prospects.
