Over 30 New Mothers at Makueni Hospital Get Heartwarming Mother’s Day Surprise

Over 30 new mothers at the Makueni Mother and Child Hospital were treated to a heartwarming surprise on Monday, following Mother’s Day celebrations over the weekend.

Led by Deputy Governor Lucy Mulili, senior female leaders from Makueni County’s Executive made a special visit to the hospital, distributing postnatal gift hampers to the delighted mothers. The hampers included essentials for lactating mothers, such as nutritional supplements, hygiene products, and baby care items.

The gesture was part of an initiative to honor and celebrate the strength and resilience of mothers across the county.

Speaking during the visit, Mulili emphasized the invaluable role mothers play in nurturing families and sustaining communities. She urged new mothers to prioritize infant healthcare—especially during teething—and to embrace modern reproductive health practices to ensure healthier outcomes for both mother and child.

“Motherhood is a sacred journey. As a county, we must support our women through every stage, from pregnancy to postnatal care,” she stated.

The Deputy Governor was accompanied by a delegation of high-ranking female county officials, including CECM for ICT Elizabeth Muli, Trade CECM Dr. Sonia Nzilani, County Solicitor Jennifer Kyumwa, and County Referral Hospital CEO Martha Munyao.

The visit was received with smiles and gratitude from mothers and hospital staff alike, who lauded the administration for its continued commitment to maternal health.

The event marked not only a celebration of motherhood but also a reaffirmation of the county’s focus on improving maternal and child health services.
