Over 50 Dead In Mexico Accident

Authorities said the vehicle they were being transported in crashed in southern Mexico, killing at least 54 people and injuring dozens more.

When the truck rolled into the state of Chiapas, more than 150 persons, believed to be Central American migrants, were jammed onto the trailer.

Victims are scattered over the road adjacent to the wrecked truck in photos from the crash scene.

Rows of what appeared to be bodies were likewise covered in white sheets.

It’s one of Mexico’s worst incidents of its kind. Governor Rutilio Escndón of Chiapas claimed 49 people died at the site and five more died in the hospital.

According to him, 105 persons were hurt in the incident, including 83 males and 22 women.

Men, women, and children were among the victims, according to emergency personnel. Although the nationality of the passengers have not been confirmed, local officials say the majority of the passengers are from Honduras and Guatemala.

The vehicle was speeding when it overturned on a hairpin bend and collided with a pedestrian bridge on a prominent road going to Tuxtla Gutiérrez, the state capital of Chiapas.
