A chaotic scene unfolded at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation when rowdy youths stormed a press conference called by Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya, a coalition of opposition parties led by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
The youths, estimated to be over 50 in number, descended upon the tent where Musyoka was addressing the press, protesting against any perceived disrespect towards Raila Odinga, the former Prime Minister and a key figure in the coalition.
As Musyoka began speaking, the youths suddenly appeared, shouting slogans and causing chaos. They turned over chairs and caused a ruckus, disrupting the press conference and sending journalists scrambling for cover.
“We will not allow any leader to disrespect Raila while we are alive,” the youths chanted, their voices echoing through the venue.
The security detail present at the event struggled to regain control of the situation, but not before the youths had caused significant damage to the venue and disrupted the proceedings.
The incident left many in attendance stunned and raised questions about the stability of the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition.
Musyoka was forced to abandon his press conference and leave the venue, with many of his supporters expressing shock and dismay at the events that unfolded.
“This is a sad day for our coalition,” one supporter was overheard saying. “We cannot let Raila’s legacy be disrespected like this.”
The incident is likely to be the last nail on the Azimio coffin, as concerns mount about the future of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya and its ability to check President Ruto’s government.
