Georgina Confirms Engagement to Cristiano Ronaldo with Pricey Diamond ring

Georgina Rodríguez has confirmed her engagement to Cristiano Ronaldo in a post that has sent social media into overdrive. From Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the model shared an image holding hands with the Portuguese footballer, prominently displaying an emerald-cut diamond ring.

The accompanying caption read: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives,” signalling that the couple are taking the next step in a relationship that began nearly a decade ago.

The pair first met in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Rodríguez was working as a sales assistant. Within months they were spotted together at Disneyland Paris, making their relationship public.

Their family has since grown significantly. In November 2017 they welcomed their first child together, Alana Martina. In April 2022 Rodríguez gave birth to twins Bella Esmeralda and Ángel, the latter tragically dying at birth. She is also stepmother to Ronaldo’s three other children: Cristiano Jr, born in 2010, and twins Eva and Mateo, born via surrogacy in 2017.

Rodríguez, of Spanish-Argentinian heritage, began her professional life as a dancer before moving into luxury fashion retail. Her relationship with Ronaldo has propelled her into the global spotlight, leading to the launch of her own ventures. She has collaborated with brands including Gucci, Prada and Chanel, and since 2022 has been the star of the Netflix documentary series I Am Georgina. The programme offers a glimpse into her life with Ronaldo, charting their family moments, travels and her growing influence as a style icon.

Neither Ronaldo nor Rodríguez has revealed when the wedding will take place, but the public confirmation ends years of speculation over whether football’s most famous couple would make their union offi

Uganda Cranes In Control of Group C After Whipping Niger 2-0

Uganda tightened their grip on a CHAN quarter-final place with a composed 2–0 victory over Niger at Nelson Mandela National Stadium, securing back-to-back wins at the tournament for the first time in their history.

Allan Okello was at the heart of the performance, recovering from a missed penalty to head the opener on 25 minutes before setting up Joel Sserunjogi’s clinical second just before the hour.

The result lifted Uganda to the top of Group C with six points from three games, ahead of Algeria and South Africa on four and Guinea on three. Niger remain bottom without a point.

Uganda began with intent in a 4-3-3, stretching play through the flanks and forcing early chances for Jude Ssemugabi. The breakthrough came after a VAR review confirmed a foul on Reagan Mpande, although Okello’s spot-kick was saved by Mahamadou Tanja. The forward atoned almost immediately, stealing into the six-yard area to head home.

Niger responded with pressure from set pieces but lacked cutting edge in open play. Joel Mutakubwa’s reflex save from Mohamed Abdouramane’s header was their clearest opening before half-time.

Uganda doubled the lead in the 56th minute when Okello carried play forward from midfield and released Sserunjogi, who rifled a shot into the top corner. From there, Morley Byekwaso’s side managed the game intelligently, with disciplined defensive work from Gavin Kizito and Hilary Mukundane and careful substitutions to see out the contest.

Niger’s late changes offered fresh energy but could not break a compact Ugandan shape. Mutakubwa’s handling under aerial bombardment preserved the clean sheet and underlined the hosts’ control.

With two wins and two shut-outs since their opening defeat to Algeria, Uganda have momentum at a crucial stage. For Niger, the challenge is now survival in the competition, their hopes hinging on greater precision in front of goal.

Man Jailed for Catholic Church Secretary Josephine’s Murder Alleges Police and Clergy Cover-up: I Was Paid 400K

A man jailed for the murder of a Catholic Church secretary in Embu County has claimed he was the victim of a cover-up involving police detectives and church officials.

Boniface Yakulula, 26, was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Embu High Court after pleading guilty to killing 28-year-old Josephine Karimi and dumping her body in a disused pit latrine on 29 June 2023. Karimi worked at the St Mary’s Catholic Women Association centre in Kiaragana sublocation.

Yakulula, who had been a casual labourer at the church, told NTV’s Murder Tapes that he was coerced into confessing.

“When I was arrested, the DCI police officers told me that I could secure a deal with the courts, to plead guilty and say I committed the crime. Then they would only jail me for only 2 years.”

He alleged that detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, working with church leaders, pressured him to remain silent about what he knew of the killing. He named a Police Constable as the officer who allegedly negotiated a false statement and wrote his confession.

According to Yakulula, Karimi’s office was open but unattended on the day she went missing. He claimed a Catholic priest instructed him to hide knowledge of her whereabouts and to cut grass over a hole in the compound, later revealed as the site where her body was found.

He alleged he was paid 400,000 shillings to keep quiet and later drugged to facilitate a finding that he was mentally unfit. The money, according to Yakulula was then taken from his house while he was in custody.

Her body was discovered five days later after Yakulula led detectives to the latrine. An autopsy revealed broken bones, suggesting a violent attack.

Yakulula now claims his personal phone, which he says contains evidence of the true culprits, was never presented in court. He insists church officials know what happened and says he fears for his life after speaking out.

According to NTV the church officials have declined to speak on the accusations, with the center official seriously mentioned, insisting that she is unaware of any financial transactions between Yakulula and the priest.

Karimi’s death has left her family devastated. Her father said the loss was made worse by unanswered questions over how and why she was killed.

CS Chirchir Breaks Silence Over Alarming Spike in Road Crashes

Kenya’s Ministry of Roads and Transport has sounded the alarm after a sharp rise in fatal road accidents claimed 80 lives in just four days, pushing the national toll for the year to 2,933.

Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir, speaking on Monday, offered condolences to bereaved families and urged road users to exercise caution, warning that the crisis was both predictable and preventable.

The latest crashes, which involved public service, private and commercial vehicles, have triggered a multi-agency safety audit of high-risk road segments. Officials are inspecting sites, identifying hazards and reconstructing crash scenes to establish causes. The review is expected to be completed within a week, with technical recommendations to follow.

Chirchir said the government was accelerating both short and long-term measures under the National Road Safety Action Plan 2024–2028. Legislative reforms are in advanced stages, targeting school transport, commercial vehicle operations, drink-driving, motor vehicle inspection, roadside facilities and a review of the Traffic Act.

Infrastructure upgrades are also underway, including the redesign of the notorious Nithi Bridge and the dualling of the Rironi–Mau Summit Road, both linked to multiple fatal accidents in recent years.

The National Transport and Safety Authority will step up public education and awareness campaigns aimed at changing driver behaviour and attitudes.

Chirchir appealed to all road users to adhere strictly to traffic laws, speed limits and maintenance standards. “Safety is not optional. It is a shared responsibility that safeguards lives,” he said.

Kenya’s roads have long been among the most dangerous in the region, with poor driver discipline, lax enforcement and unsafe infrastructure frequently cited as causes. The ministry hopes a coordinated push from government, transport operators and the public can stem the rising tide of fatali

Chinese Warship and Cutter Collide During Scarborough Shoal Standoff

A Chinese Coast Guard cutter and a guided-missile destroyer collided on Monday in the South China Sea during an attempted blockade of Philippine Coast Guard vessels, marking one of the most serious mishaps among Chinese forces in recent years.

The clash occurred about ten nautical miles off Scarborough Shoal as Philippine patrol ships BRP Teresa Magbanua and BRP Suluan escorted fishing vessel MV Pamamalakaya and 35 local boats under the government’s Kadiwa Operation, which supports fishing communities in the country’s western exclusive economic zone.

According to Philippine Coast Guard spokesperson Commodore Jay Tarriela, Chinese forces attempted to water-cannon Suluan but failed after the Philippine crew maneuvered clear. The China Coast Guard cutter 3104, a former Jiangdao-class corvette, then pursued Suluan alongside the PLAN destroyer Guilin (164) in what Tarriela called a “risky” chase.

Video released by Manila shows the cutter smashing into the destroyer’s bow as Guilin moved to block the Philippine vessel.

The impact left 3104’s bow heavily damaged and “unseaworthy,” according to the PCG. Philippine personnel reportedly offered assistance for possible man-overboard recovery and medical aid, though casualties remain unconfirmed.

Despite the incident, Teresa Magbanua continued the mission, resupplying local fishing boats with fuel and provisions. The Philippine Department of National Defense condemned the collision as “atrocious and inane behavior,” pledging full support for PCG personnel in contested waters.

Ray Powell of Stanford University’s SeaLight Project called the presence of a Chinese Navy ship in the maneuver “striking,” noting it reflects Beijing’s increasingly aggressive attempts to enforce its claims well beyond any legal territorial sea. Ben Lewis of PLATracker said the destroyer’s involvement signaled a “hardened stance” against Manila’s access to the shoal.

Scarborough Shoal, seized by Beijing in 2012 after a tense standoff, lies within the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone but is claimed by China under its “ten-dash line.”

The shoal has become a flashpoint for repeated confrontations, including a June harassment incident involving Chinese water cannons.

Beijing maintains that Philippine activities in the area threaten “peace and stability,” urging Manila to stop “provocations” and seek dialogue. Philippine President Bongbong Marcos, however, said the country “will not back down” in defending its territory.

Two University Students Join Race to Unseat Museveni in 2026

Ayeza Abigail Victoria, a 22-year-old university student, has picked nomination forms to contest for the presidency in Uganda’s 2026 General Election, making her one of the youngest aspirants in the race.

She revealed that her parents are unhappy with her decision, citing the risks involved, but said she is driven by a desire to see meaningful change in the country.

“What motivated me is that as we grow older, we wish the best for our society. If I want to see a difference in my country, I must be the difference,” Ayeza said. “I am not being funded by anyone. I am funding myself. I am going for signatures as I lay the foundation for my campaign.”

She will be joined on the ballot by another young aspirant, Jorine Najjemba, a 20-year-old Senior Six vacist from Nkowe, whose campaign slogan is “An Open Door to a New Uganda for Everyone.”

The Electoral Commission (EC) announced that any registered Ugandan voter aged 18 years and above intending to run for president can pick nomination forms starting Monday next week. Aspirants must pay a Shs20 million nomination fee and collect 9,800 signatures from at least 98 districts within one month.

EC chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama told journalists that the forms will be available at the EC head offices along Seventh Street, Industrial Area, and must be physically collected by candidates or their representatives.

“This process will allow the Commission to identify and document the aspirants and inform stakeholders across the country to assist in collecting signatures,” Justice Byabakama said. “We expect the forms to be returned by September 10, which is two weeks before the nomination exercise, to allow us to verify the signatures.”

Uganda’s presidential race is already shaping up to be competitive, with President Yoweri Museveni seeking to extend his rule beyond four decades, National Unity Platform leader Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) in the running, and retired Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu nominated by the Alliance for National Transformation last week.

The elections are slated for early 2026.

India’s Top Court Orders Removal of Stray Dogs from New Delhi Streets

New Delhi’s streets could look very different in the coming months after India’s Supreme Court ordered authorities to remove stray dogs, sterilise them, and relocate them permanently to shelters.

In a ruling issued Monday, the court directed the capital’s civic bodies to begin capturing 5,000 stray dogs from “high risk areas” within six to eight weeks, housing them in facilities with adequate staff and CCTV surveillance.

It is unclear how the figure of 5,000 was reached, with estimates of the city’s stray dog population ranging from 500,000 to one million.

While many of the animals are harmless, the move follows a rise in dog bite cases, including attacks on children. Hospital data suggests nearly 2,000 bite incidents occur daily in the capital. “The situation is extremely grim,” the court said, adding that infants and young children “should not at any cost fall prey to stray dogs.”

The court also ordered the creation of a dedicated animal helpline within a week to report bite incidents. It warned that any individual or group obstructing the removal of stray dogs would face strict legal consequences. The animals, once removed, must not be released back onto streets or into residential areas.

Animal rights activists, who had opposed the court’s involvement, were sharply rebuked. “Will they be able to bring back those who have fallen prey to rabies?” the court asked. Rabies, a fatal viral disease transmitted through bites, remains a serious public health risk in India.

Following the ruling, Delhi state cabinet minister Kapil Mishra welcomed the move, describing it as a step towards freeing the city “from the fear of rabies and stray animals.” He pledged that “special attention will also be given to the comprehensive welfare of stray animals.”

Nadia Mukami and Arrow Bwoy Welcome Second Child

Kenyan musician Nadia Mukami, renowned for her award-winning music, and her partner, fellow artist Arrow Bwoy, have announced the arrival of their second child

Award-winning Kenyan musician Nadia Mukami and her partner, fellow artist Arrow Bwoy, have announced the birth of their second child, a baby boy named Ameer Kiyan.

The couple shared the news on Monday, August 11, with a tender photograph from the hospital showing Nadia cradling her newborn while Arrow Bwoy stood beside her.

In an Instagram post, Mukami revealed that Ameer was born on August 9. “We welcomed our second son, Ameer Kiyan, to the world. Our perfect prince and a gift from God,” she wrote.

The arrival comes just months after the AFRIMMA-winning songwriter confirmed her pregnancy during a live performance.

That night, she proudly displayed her baby bump while urging fans to dance along, a moment that was widely celebrated by her supporters.

Mukami, who gave birth to her first son Kai two years ago, has often credited motherhood with opening new opportunities, including lucrative brand endorsements.

She has described Kai as a child who “came with a big plate,” symbolising the blessings he brought into her life.

Her second pregnancy also marked a period of renewal in her relationship with Arrow Bwoy. The two artists have spoken candidly about challenges in their partnership, including a difficult patch before Kai’s birth. They later reconciled, and the arrival of Ameer now signals another milestone in their shared journey as parents.

The couple’s announcement was met with a wave of congratulations from fans and fellow artists across social media, many expressing joy at the family’s growing household.

Royal Liner: Another Fatal Crash Adds to Kenya’s August Tragedy Toll

A tragic collision involving a Royal Liner bus has claimed one life and left six others injured near Lela on the Kisumu Busia road, deepening concerns over a deadly start to August on Kenyan roads.

According to Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer Peter Maina, investigations are ongoing into the cause of the crash. Reports indicate that the accident occurred when a flatbed trailer truck, attempting to overtake at a sharp bend just past Lela in Maseno, rammed the bus from behind. A fuel tanker was also caught up in the collision.

Images from the scene showed severe damage to the driver’s side of the bus, with first responders and police working to rescue passengers and clear the wreckage.

This incident follows a string of major road accidents that have shaken the country in recent days. On Saturday, an ENA Coach bus travelling from Nairobi to Migori overturned near Mai Mahiu after a trailer behind it lost brakes, killing a woman and a child.

Earlier on August 8, a school bus carrying mourners overturned at the Coptic Roundabout on the Kisumu Kakamega road, killing 21 people instantly. The death toll later rose to 26 as more victims succumbed to injuries in hospital.

The National Transport and Safety Authority and the National Police Service have pledged stricter traffic enforcement in response to the alarming rise in fatalities. NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga urged drivers to avoid speeding, reckless overtaking, drink driving, overloading and fatigue, warning that most accidents are preventable.

With the month barely halfway through, over 50 people have already lost their lives in road crashes across Kenya this August, cementing fears that the so called cursed month may again live up to its grim reputation.

South Africa Keep CHAN hopes Alive With Gritty Win Over Guinea

South Africa breathed new life into their TotalEnergies African Nations Championship PAMOJA 2024 campaign with a 2-1 victory over Guinea in Kampala on Monday, a result that lifted them off the foot of Group C and kept their qualification hopes intact.

Neo Maema opened the scoring in the tenth minute, combining neatly with Thabiso Kutumela before steering a composed left-footed shot into the far corner. It was a bright start for Molefi Ntseki’s side, who pressed high and unsettled Guinea’s defence in the opening exchanges.

Guinea responded in the 37th minute through Moussa Camara, who latched on to Mohamed Bangoura I’s incisive pass and drilled a low finish past goalkeeper Samukelo Xulu. The equaliser swung momentum briefly towards the Syli Nationale, who ended the first half on the front foot.

South Africa regained control early in the second half. Wayde Jooste’s precise delivery found Kutumela unmarked in the box and the striker calmly guided his shot into the bottom corner for his second career goal in CHAN competition.

Guinea pushed forward in the closing stages, with substitute Mohamed Diabate heading narrowly wide and Mohamed Bangoura II forcing a sharp save from Xulu. Cheick Camara’s towering header in stoppage time drifted just over, sealing their fate.

Ntseki’s men showed far greater discipline than in their opening match against Algeria, keeping their defensive shape and using swift transitions to exploit space. Substitutes Tebogo Tlolane and Harold Majadibodu played key roles in weathering the late pressure.

The result moves South Africa to four points, behind Algeria on goal difference, while Guinea remain bottom with a single point and now require both victory in their final match and favourable results elsewhere to progress.
