Mystery deepens as DCI blocked from Tuju residence amid disappearance probe

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has revealed that they were denied access to Raphael Tuju’s residence along Mwitu Drive in Karen, even as a probe into his alleged disappearance gains momentum.

In the first statement since Tuju’s disappearance, detectives called on all parties involved to cooperate with the probe, stressing that unrestricted access to key locations would help them piece together the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

The DCI also confirmed that a special team has been deployed to handle the case and establish his whereabouts.

“The investigating team is also utilising all available resources and investigative techniques to determine the circumstances surrounding his reported disappearance,” DCI stated.

According to Tuju’s son, Mano Tuju, the former CS was on his way to an interview on Saturday, March 21, but he never went back home.

On Sunday Morning, Tuju’s son received a call from the OCS at Karen Police Station informing him that his father’s vehicle had been found abandoned along Miotoni Lane.

“Hon. Tuju was reported missing by his family on Sunday, March 22, 2026. His motor vehicle was discovered abandoned along Miotoni Lane in Karen, with its hazard lights on,” the DCI stated.

“A security guard from a nearby institution alerted authorities, prompting a swift response by officers from Karen Police Station. The scene was later processed by Crime Scene Investigators, and the vehicle was towed to Karen Police Station for further forensic examination,” it added.

Tuju’s disappearance has sparked an uproar, particularly among politicians, some of whom have claimed that he was abducted.

Speaking on Sunday, Orange Democratic Party leader Oburu Odinga called for swift action from the government to find Tuju, stressing that his disappearance is denting the reputation of security agencies.

“I would like to urge the government to quickly investigate the matter and inform us on what might have happened to our son, Raphael Tuju. This is not good, and I would like security agencies to investigate this matter,” Oburu said.

The former Jubilee Party Secretary General has been the subject of discussion in recent weeks following disputes over his prime land in Karen.

Tuju has been battling the auction of his properties in a case that spiralled into a dramatic eviction from his Karen property, after accusing unnamed powerful individuals of orchestrating his downfall.

In a letter last week, the former Jubilee Secretary General had appealed for protection from the police amid what he described as pressures affecting his property and personal safety.

Griezmann Set for MLS Move as Orlando City Seal Summer Agreement

Antoine Griezmann is set to make a surprise move to Major League Soccer, with a verbal agreement in place to join Orlando City SC in July 2026.

The development comes shortly after Atlético’s 3–2 defeat to Real Madrid, a result that raised concerns over the team’s intensity and defensive organization.

Interestingly, Softfootball gathered the move marks a shift from Griezmann’s earlier stance. On March 11, 2026, the French forward publicly dismissed speculation linking him with MLS, insisting he was fully committed to Atlético Madrid and focused on competing in the UEFA Champions League and Copa del Rey.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his x handle, the deal has been agreed for the summer as a free transfer from Atlético Madrid.

Fabrizio stated:

An earlier attempt to complete the move in March was rejected, but both parties have now reached a full agreement for the end of the season.

Griezmann is also expected to travel to the United States this week.

However, it now appears that a summer exit is on the cards, with Griezmann preparing for a new chapter in the United States after his long spell in Spanish football.

CS Duale held talks with H.E Witjaksono Adji, Ambassador of Indonesia to Kenya

Cabinet Secretary for Health Aden Duale today held talks with H.E Witjaksono Adji, Ambassador of Indonesia to Kenya, on strengthening collaboration in pharmaceutical manufacturing, health financing and digital health systems as part of Kenya’s ongoing health sector reforms.

The talks reaffirmed the growing Kenya–Indonesia partnership, with a focus on practical areas of cooperation to support Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and strengthen health systems. Kitui Leaders issue 7-Day Ultimatum to Police over delayed arrests in assault on Nguni MCA Jeremiah Mutua

Kitui leaders have called on investigative agencies to urgently bring to book the alleged assailants who attacked Nguni Ward MCA and Kitui County Assembly Minority Leader Hon. Jeremiah Musee Mutua on January 17, 2026, during the burial ceremony of the mother of Nuu Ward MCA Hon. Judith Wanza.

The leaders, led by Mwingi Central MP Hon. Gideon Mulyungi and Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, made the remarks during a thanksgiving ceremony for Hon. Jeremiah Mutua at the New Apostolic Church in Myuuni, Nguni Ward, Mwingi Central Constituency.

They expressed concern that more than two months after the incident, the suspects remain free, raising suspicions of foul play by investigative officers from Nuu and Mwingi Central.

“We are giving the police a 7-day ultimatum to conclude investigations into this matter. Failure to do so will compel us to escalate the issue directly to the President, as it appears some officers may have been compromised to sabotage the case. I will also personally seek justice through the courts for Hon. Jeremiah Mutua. We will not stand by silently while our people are assaulted,” said Speaker Kevin Kinengo.

Hon. Harrison Maluki, the Majority Leader and MCA for Migwani, noted that leaders present at the event witnessed the assault on Hon. Mutua but refrained from taking the law into their own hands.

“As law-abiding citizens, we chose not to retaliate. Justice for the Nguni MCA must now be served through proper legal channels,” he said.

Hon. Muthengi Ndagara, the Deputy Majority Whip and MCA for Tharaka, criticized the delay, pointing out that the assailants continue to walk freely in Mwingi Town despite assaulting a people’s representative.

“We urge the President to transfer the police officers handling this case, as their prolonged inaction suggests they may have been influenced or bribed to slow down the process,” he stated.

Nguni MCA Hon. Jeremiah Mutua expressed frustration over the prolonged delay, despite having provided all necessary evidence including video footage and witness statements to expedite the investigation.

“I urge the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and other investigative agencies to speed up the process. The assailants are clearly identifiable in the video and statements. They must be arrested and arraigned in court promptly. If a leader like me can be subjected to such an assault without immediate consequences, what hope is there for the ordinary people we represent?” he added.

Senator Cherarkey Demands Government Action on Flood Compensation and Diaspora Repatriation

In response to the escalating humanitarian crises affecting Kenyans at home and abroad, Nandi Senator Samson Cherarkey has asked the Standing Committee on National Security, Defence, and Foreign Relations for two critical statements.

Rising on the floor of the House pursuant to Standing Order 53 (1), the legislator first took aim at the devastating impact of the recent seasonal flooding that has left a trail of destruction across the country.

He noted that while seasonal rains are expected, the current scale of displacement and loss highlights systemic governance failures, particularly in stormwater drainage management and disaster preparedness.

Senator Cherarkey tasked the Security Committee to provide the House with a comprehensive report on the confirmed number of fatalities and injuries, and the estimated value of property lost, since the night of March 6, 2026, which he described as one of the worst floods experienced in the country.

Beyond the immediate statistics, Senator Cherarkey pushed for a clear roadmap on compensation for families who lost loved ones or saw their businesses destroyed.

“What is the current status of the existence and adequacy of a national disaster compensation fund? These circumstances raise urgent questions about the adequacy of relief measures and compensation for affected citizens,” Senator Cherarkey said.

Transitioning from the domestic crisis to the struggles of Kenyans in the diaspora, Senator Cherarkey also moved to address the significant financial and logistical challenges families face when a loved one passes away outside the country.

He observed that many families are currently forced to delay burials, conduct public fundraisers, or even abandon repatriation altogether due to the high costs associated with transporting remains back to Kenya.

To resolve this, the Nandi Senator called on the government to establish a dedicated fund and implement the necessary protocols to ensure financial support for bereaved families unable to meet these costs.

Senator Cherarkey further challenged the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs to collaborate with the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection to ensure that Kenyan migrant workers are adequately covered under insurance schemes or employer-supported repatriation arrangements.

This move, he argued, is essential to reduce the financial burden on families in the event of death and to eliminate the need for government financial support.

Chief Justice Koome Presides Over Swearing-In of New National Land Commission Leadership

By Andrew Kariuki

The Chief Justice, Martha Koome, has presided over the swearing-in of the newly appointed leadership of the National Land Commission (NLC), marking the start of a new six-year term for the commissioners.

Dr. Abdillahi Saggaf Alawy was sworn in as the Chairperson of the Commission, alongside Susan Khakasa Oyatsi, Daniel Murithi Muriungi, Kigen Vincent Cheruiyot, Dr. Julie Ouma Oseko, Mohamed Abdi Haji Mohamed and Mary Yiane Seneta, who took oath as members of the Commission.

During the ceremony, the Chief Justice congratulated the appointees and emphasized the critical role played by the National Land Commission within Kenya’s constitutional framework.

She noted that land remains one of the country’s most sensitive and significant resources, closely tied to Kenya’s history, identity and dignity.

The Chief Justice urged the commissioners to strictly adhere to the Constitution in the execution of their mandate, stressing the need for transparency, equity and accountability in land governance.

She further highlighted the importance of addressing historical land injustices, resolving disputes, and strengthening systems of land administration, noting that these tasks will require courage, integrity and a firm commitment to the rule of law.

The Chief Justice also affirmed the Judiciary’s support in facilitating justice and ensuring the efficient resolution of land-related disputes, calling for collaboration between institutions involved in land management and adjudication.

She encouraged the commissioners to remain faithful to their oath of office and to discharge their duties with independence, dedication and an unwavering focus on the public interest.

The new team now takes office at a time when land issues remain central to governance, development and social stability in Kenya.

Sifuna Demands State to Produce Former CS Raphael Tuju After Reported Disappearance

By Andrew Kariuki

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has raised concerns over the reported disappearance of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju, calling on authorities to account for his whereabouts.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Sifuna described the situation as deeply concerning, warning that it raises broader questions about how disputes are handled in the country.

“We must all be gravely concerned about this Tuju situation. You may say it’s a private matter but what you need to understand is that it’s a continuation of the ‘mambo ni matatu’ way of solving private commercial disputes,” he stated.

The senator linked the matter to what he termed a pattern in the handling of high-stakes commercial disputes, referencing past controversies involving business interests and foreign investors.

He further alleged that such incidents could undermine investor confidence and negatively impact the country’s economic environment.

“We have a rogue regime that deploys dark arts to force outcomes in commercial disputes. No investor would put their money into such a country. It’s why the private sector is fleeing Kenya,” Sifuna said.

The ODM Secretary-General also tied the issue to broader concerns about governance, job creation and adherence to constitutional principles, emphasizing the importance of the rule of law.

“It’s why we keep insisting on the values of our constitution. It’s why we sing rule of law. It’s not about shiny things,” he added.

Sifuna called on the state to take responsibility and provide clarity on Tuju’s situation, urging authorities to ensure his safety.

“The state, whose job it is to protect citizens, must now produce Tuju,” he said.

There has been no official statement from government agencies regarding the claims at the time of publication.

Two Arrested in Trans Nzoia as Police Recover Over 200 Suspected Stolen Phones

By Andrew Kariuki

Two suspects have been arrested in Trans Nzoia County following a police operation targeting the handling of suspected stolen mobile phones.

According to investigators, the arrests were made during an intelligence-led raid in Lessos, where officers from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB), supported by personnel from Matisi Police Station, conducted a search at a residence near Airport Church.

The operation led to the arrest of Silas Wanjala, 24 and Job Kiberenge Sikuku, 28, who are currently in custody.

During the raid, officers recovered 213 mobile phones of various makes and models. Authorities also seized a Pandora machine suspected to be used for reprogramming mobile devices, as well as three HP laptops.

All recovered items have been secured as exhibits and are expected to undergo forensic analysis as part of ongoing investigations.

Investigators are now working to establish the origin of the devices and determine whether the suspects are part of a wider network involved in the illegal trade of mobile phones.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court upon completion of investigations.

Authorities have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to theft or illegal handling of electronic devices.

Kim Jong Un Reconfirmed as North Korea’s President

By George Ndeto

North Korea’s tightly controlled legislature has once again confirmed Kim Jong Un as President of State Affairs, according to reports by the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) on Monday.

Kim’s continued leadership of the powerful State Affairs Commission—the country’s highest governing body—was announced following a session of the Supreme People’s Assembly. The agency said his reappointment reflected what it described as the “unanimous will” of the North Korean people.

However, observers widely dismiss such elections as symbolic, arguing they are carefully orchestrated to project an image of democratic process while ensuring predetermined outcomes. Analysts note that these events are primarily aimed at reinforcing the regime’s legitimacy rather than offering genuine political choice.

Kim, who has been in power since 2011 after the death of his father Kim Jong Il, represents the third generation of leadership in the state established by his grandfather Kim Il Sung in 1948.

KCNA reported that the decision was made during the first session of the SPA’s 15th term held on March 22, describing it as a key state function. Images released from the event showed Kim seated prominently at the center of the assembly hall, surrounded by senior officials and positioned before large statues of his father and grandfather.

Ahead of the session, 687 deputies were elected to the assembly. Voters, all over the age of 17, were presented with a single candidate per seat endorsed by the ruling party. Official figures indicated near-total participation, with 99.99 percent turnout and 99.93 percent approval.

Political analysts say the gathering could also address constitutional changes, including proposals that may formally define relations with South Korea as those between “two hostile states.” Experts suggest that the language Kim uses in addressing the assembly will offer clues about his future approach to inter-Korean relations, particularly whether references to unity and reconciliation are replaced by more confrontational terms.

Overall, the session is viewed as both a reaffirmation of Kim’s authority and a platform for signaling potential policy shifts at home and abroad.
