Newcastle Sign Milan Midfielder Tonali For £55m

Newcastle United have signed AC Milan and Italy midfielder Sandro Tonali.

The 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract, becoming Eddie Howe’s first signing of the summer as his side prepares for Champions League football.

The reported £55m fee would make him the most expensive Italian footballer of all time.

Tonali helped Milan win Serie A in 2021-22 and was part of the side which reached last season’s Champions League semi-finals.

He was also a member of Italy’s squad at the Under-21 European Championships.

Tonali told the club website: “I want to repay the trust on the pitch, giving it my all, as I always have. I’m really excited about playing at St. James’ Park, I can’t wait to feel the warmth of the fans.”

Newcastle head coach Howe said of Tonali: “He is an exceptional talent and has the mentality, physicality and technical attributes to be a great fit for us.

“At 23, Sandro already has important experience as a key player in one of Europe’s top leagues and in the Champions League, as well as playing for his country.

“But he also has the opportunity and potential to grow and evolve with us, and I’m excited to add him to our squad as we approach the exciting season ahead.”

Tonali came through the ranks at Brescia and made his professional debut for them in Serie B at 17.

Brescia were promoted to Serie A in 2018-19 and, though the club was relegated the following season, Tonali made his Italy debut during that campaign when he came on as a substitute against Liechtenstein in October 2019.

He joined AC Milan on loan in the summer of 2020 and, after making the move permanent the following year, scored five goals in 36 top-flight appearances as the club won the Italian title in 2022.

Tonali scored twice in 34 Serie A outings as the San Siro side finished fourth last season, while he made 12 appearances in the Champions League before Milan were knocked out by rivals Inter in the semi-finals.

Gvardiol Wants Man City Move, Says RB Leipzig Chief

Croatia defender Josko Gvardiol has told RB Leipzig that he wants to move to Manchester City, says the German club’s sports director Max Eberl.

Eberl added that talks between the clubs are taking place for the 21-year-old centre-back.

BBC Sport understands City have yet to make a bid.

“Josko and his advisors have submitted the wish to us for a transfer to Manchester City,” Eberl told Leipziger Volkszeitung newspaper.

“We are in talks. There is nothing more to say about it at this moment.”

Reports suggest Gvardiol could cost in the region of £86m, which would make him the most expensive defender in football history.

Gvardiol helped Croatia reach the semi-finals of the World Cup in Qatar last year, while he finished third in the Bundesliga and won the German Cup with Leipzig last season.

He was also part of the Leipzig side which was knocked out of the Champions League by City in the last campaign, following a 1-1 draw in Germany and a 7-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

If Gvardiol leaves, he would become the latest high profile player to depart from Leipzig this summer following the exits of Christopher Nkunku, Dominik Szoboszlai and Konrad Laimer.

France forward Nkunku has joined Chelsea, Hungary midfielder Szoboszlai has been signed by Liverpool, and Laimer has left for domestic rivals for Bayern Munich.

“I can understand the disappointment and concern of the fans,” Eberl said. “No club and no coach in this world wants to lose players of this calibre.

“But we have been prepared for this and I can promise that we will have once more a good and exciting team.”

2022 KDHS’ Data To Provide Insight in Implementation of Universal Healthcare Coverage

Data from the Kenya Demographic and Health Survey (KDHS2022) have been a key resource for planning the rollout of universal health coverage through primary healthcare networks.

At the introduction of the Kenya Demographic Health Survey (KDHS) 2022 Main Report today, CS Nakhumicha S. Wafula emphasised the significance of the survey.

The 2022 KDHS Report is the seventh DHS Survey conducted in Kenya with the goal of providing demographic, health, and nutrition indicators to aid in planning, monitoring, and assessment of the nation’s health sector.

A variety of monitoring and effect evaluation indicators in the fields of population, health, and nutrition can be tracked using data from the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS), which are nationally representative household surveys.

Through the use of evidence-based practise, DHIS is one of the components of a health system that aims to increase access and service quality. With the use of DHIS software, data is collected and summarised to deliver efficient, fact-based health services.

According to the data, there have been significant increases in competent deliveries compared to two decades earlier, as well as beneficial changes in child health and nutrition indices and antenatal care access.

In order to advance universal health coverage and enhance health outcomes for all residents, these findings will influence policy choices and measures.

Several Injured As Bus Overturns In Kericho With 22 On Board

A bus carrying passengers toppled in the Siwot district of Kericho County, injuring at least 19 people.

Police Commander Geoffrey Mayek confirmed the collision and said three victims had head injuries and were in severe condition.

Most passengers were transporting agricultural goods to local markets when the tragedy happened on Monday at 5 a.m.

According to local sources, the wounded were promptly saved and taken to several hospitals in Kericho County, where they still receive medical care.

According to a source, the bus is thought to have been speeding when it struck a pothole. However, the exact reason for the accident is still under investigation.

Officers from the traffic police arrived on the collision scene quickly and started assessing the evidence, including the bus’s flipped wreckage.

The insider also disclosed that the debris was towed to a neighbourhood police station, where other organizations, including insurance experts, will examine it in further detail.

In four days, Kericho County experienced a second traffic accident. Over 50 people were killed, and over 60 others were injured when a trailer travelling on the Kericho-Nakuru road lost control and hit numerous vehicles on June 30 and 30. Politicians referred to the Londiani accident as a national catastrophe.

Authorities expressed alarm over the nation’s position regarding road safety, with President William Ruto remarking that more than 3,000 people pass away from accidents each year.

According to Ruto, there were over 13,000 traffic accidents nationwide in 2022, and many victims were killed or seriously injured.

On Monday, June 26 June 26, Ruto said, “The government has taken some steps to improve road safety, such as increasing the number of traffic police officers and introducing new laws to punish reckless driving.” He was speaking to bodaboda drivers in Nairobi at the time.

He did, however, emphasize that more needed to be done to solve Kenya’s issue with traffic accidents.

US Roller Coaster That Went Viral Closes After Crack Discovered In Support Pillar

Carowinds amusement park in North Carolina closed a roller coaster Friday after discovering a crack in a support pillar, park officials said.

The park says the Fury 325 is one of the tallest and longest rides in the massive park that straddles the North and South Carolina state lines.

“The tallest, fastest, longest giga coaster in North America” will remain closed until inspections and repairs take place, the park said. The crack is at the top of a steel support pillar.

A “giga” roller coaster has a drop between 300 and 399 feet, according to Kings Island in Ohio.

Carowinds says the Fury 325 takes riders to a peak height of 325 feet and reaches 95 mph.

The rest of the amusement and water park remained open Saturday, according to Carowinds’ website.

“Safety is our top priority and we appreciate the patience and understanding of our valued guests during this process. As part of our comprehensive safety protocols, all rides, including Fury 325, undergo daily inspections to ensure their proper functioning and structural integrity,” Carowinds said.

Kamene Goro’s Husband DJ Bonez Bothered By Her Smoking Habit

Kamene Goro’s husband, DJ Bonez, has revealed that he dislikes her smoking habit.

Speaking in a recent podcast session with Oga Obinna, the Coast-based deejay revealed that he struggles to adjust to his wife’s smoking habit.

“To be honest, this is a struggle and a fight for me. I didn’t like women who smoke cigarettes. Smoke anything else, but not sigara,” DJ Bonez shared candidly.

However, Kamene defended herself and emphasized that everyone has their own vices that they battle privately.

“Everyone has their bad habits, there are people who don’t bite their nails, there are those who won’t comb their hair… you know even I have my bad habits.

“The thing is, let’s control those behaviours to be good citizens. If you are an alcoholic, you don’t drink until you forget yourself. if you are a smoker and you are around people who don’t like it, don’t smoke around them,” Kamene said.

Kamene went on to explain that having a woman use Marijuana, cigarettes or drink does not mean she cannot become a wife to somebody.

To her, this is what causes double standards making every other man judge a woman based on what society has taught them.

Obinna echoed Dj Bonez sentiments and confessed that he also doesn’t like women who smoke.

He recounted how he had to end a budding relationship after discovering that the woman he was in love with smokes cigarettes.

“I met somebody. She is full spec, the type of shortie I like and everything nice. Later I realized she is a smoker,” Obinna revealed.

“Dem anasmoke sio wife material,” he added.

Eugene Mukangula Clears Air On Transfer Rumours Linking Him With Exit From AFC Leopards

AFC Leopards midfielder Eugene Mukangula has responded to transfer reports indicating that he is on his way out of the den.

Last month, the midfielder was said to have been listed in the category of players to be let go in the off-season transfer window.

Mukangula, who skippered Leopards between March 2022 to June this year was stripped of the captaincy roles alongside his assistant Peter Thiong’o.

The two were faulted for apparently failing to show leadership on the eve of their clash against Vihiga Bullets that witnessed a dead-lock between the playing unit and the management before Ingwe departed for Mumias.

Leopards players reportedly downed their tools before the away game to Vihiga protesting the delayed remittance of their dues hardly days after the playing unit was gifted a million shillings by President William Ruto for winning the second leg of the Mashemeji Derby.

The management, in a bid to save the situation and seal any loophole for what would have easily resulted to a walkover, managed to convince the disgruntled players to assemble and travel to Mumias for the clash that ended 2-1 in favour of the relegated side.

Leopards secretary general Gilbert Andugu is on record saying that Mukangula and Thiong’o will have to exit the club following the shameful events witnessed at the club last month.

However, Mukangula, who joined Leopards in 2018 from the defunct Thika United insists that he has a running contract with the club.

“I am Leopards player who has a running contract. I have not indicated that I am leaving the club,” he said.

It is understood that some quarters within the club’s Executive Committee want the midfielder to continue serving the outfit.

The playmaker’s sole goal inspired the club to a third-place finish in the Mozzart Bet Cup final last weekend at the expense of Ulinzi Stars who finished fourth.
