Police in Nakuru North Sub-County rescued a Pakistani man from a mob on Sunday after he was accused of swindling residents through false pretences.

The suspect, identified as Ahmad Shabbir, was surrounded by angry locals demanding instant justice before officers intervened to disperse the crowd and take him into custody. His two alleged accomplices fled the scene and remain at large.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Shabbir and his associates have been linked to a string of fraud cases in the area, where victims claim to have lost significant amounts of money.

It has since emerged that Shabbir was already facing similar charges in Kisumu County. He had been granted bond from Ahero Police Station, where he was ordered to report on August 20. Instead, he allegedly resumed fraudulent activities in Nakuru.

Local residents expressed frustration over what they view as repeat offenders exploiting the justice system. Authorities, however, urged the public not to take the law into their own hands.

Shabbir is being held in police custody as detectives step up efforts to track down his accomplices. Investigators have warned that further arrests are expected as the probe widens.
