The nation’s political leadership, clergy, and families gathered at the Africa Gospel Church (AGC) Karen to honour the late Emurua Dikirr MP, Hon. Johana Ng’eno alongside five others who perished in the tragic helicopter crash of February 28th.
In attendance were Deputy President H.E. Kithure Kindiki, National Assembly Speaker Hon. Moses Wetang’ula, Senate Speaker Hon. Amason Kingi, Members of Parliament, governors, and dignitaries.

Speaker Wetang’ula recalled his long friendship with the late legislator, saying, “Johanna was a man full of life. The moment he arrived anywhere, the mood would change. He was a good man with a clean heart.” He also urged Kenyans to “appreciate the will of God and avoid assigning blame,” describing the accident as “a tragic turn that robbed the nation of precious lives.”
Hon. Rindikiri Mugambi, the Vice Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning and Public Works, eulogized his late Chair as “a man full of empathy and deep concern for Kenyans… gentle yet firm, and a steady voice of reason.” He added, “Through his leadership, the Committee achieved significant milestones. We have truly lost a great man.”

Tinderet MP Hon. Julius Melly remembered Ng’eno as “a tribe-less leader who fought for worthy causes and spoke his mind.”
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja hailed Ng’eno’s legacy in the housing sector and creative economy, noting, “The Affordable Housing projects in Mukuru and Kibera stand as his living legacy. He was a patron of the arts who supported musicians and creatives.”
On his part, Narok Governor Patrick Ntutu said the late MP was committed to his people to the very end. “That morning, he called to say he would be issuing bursaries. We have lost a man who truly served his people.”

Senator Aaron Cheruiyot and Clerk of the National Assembly Samuel Njoroge also paid tribute, describing all six men as diligent professionals and family breadwinners.
On Thursday, five of the victims will be transported to Emurua Dikirr Primary School for a joint service and an overnight vigil in honour of Hon. Ng’eno at his home.
The final farewell will be held on Friday, 6th March 2026, during a State-led funeral service at Emurua Dikirr Primary School, expected to be graced by His Excellency the President. Hon. Ng’eno will be laid to rest thereafter, with his staff scheduled for interment between Friday and Saturday.
