Pastor Rigathi’s Impersonators Denied Bond

Two suspects defrauding Kenyans in the name of DP Gachagua’s wife were today arraigned in court facing various counts of fraud.

Blaise Wafula Nabiswa and Jacklyne Tokesi were charged with fraudulent use of electronic data.
The two, on diverse dates between December 2022 and January 2023 sent messages in relation to mama care initiative loan to various women pretending to be in a position to help them secure loans.

Their defense counsel pleaded with the court to release them on reasonable bail and bond stating that the offense at hand was a minor crime.

However, the state prosecutor interjected by telling the court that the offense ought to be treated with weight since they had been moving around impersonating DP Gachagua’s wife.

“Your honor this offence cannot be treated lightly as the defense purports, the two have been impersonating the wife of the deputy president, Rigathi Gachagua, many people are expected to file complaints over the same.” said the prosecutor.

The court denied them bond and ordered the matter to be mentioned tomorrow before the Nairobi City Court for directions.
