Inspector General of Police, Japhet Koome has been ordered by Mombasa High Court to reopen Pastor Ezekiel Odero’s New Life International Church.
The High Court Judge ordered the National Police Service (NPS) to reopen the church immediately and without further delay.
Pastor Ezekiel’s legal team, lead by Danstan Omari and Cliff Ombetta, petitioned the High Court, accusing the state of intruding on the faithful’s freedom to worship freely and without government interference.
The Church was closed on Thursday, April 27, after police arrested Pastor Ezekiel accusing him of terrorism, radicalization of his church followers and other charges related to mass killings.
He was also linked to the Shakahola Forest massacre where over 110 bodies have so far been exhumed.
