Detectives have said they have credible evidence that some people who died at his church were buried on a piece of land in Shakahola belonging to Paul Mackenzie.
Pastor Ezekiel Odero was arraigned in Shanzu Law Courts after sleeping in the police cell last night.
Police want the court to grant them 30 days detention order to complete investigations.
DCI in an application informed the court that there is credible information linking the bodies exhumed from the 800-acre piece of land in Shakahola. Several innocent followers from his ministry are believed to have met their death in their quest for divine intervention.
Pastor Ezekiel is being investigated of conspiring to murder, aiding suicide, abduction, radicalization, genocide, crimes against humanity, child cruelty, fraud and money laundering and being accessories before or after the fact.
“Ezekiel runs a Television station namely TIMES TV investigations revealed he paid Ksh 500,000 as part payment for its purchase from Mr Paul Mackenzie who is currently under police investigations in matters connected to the Shakahola massacre of vulnerable Kenyans” reads the court documents.
DCI in an application informed the court that there is credible information linking the bodies exhumed from the 800-acre piece of land in Shakahola with several innocent followers from his ministry believed to have met their death in their quest for divine intervention from the pastor.
DCI further confirms that several deaths occurred within the precincts of the New Life ministry at Mavueni and were reported at Kilifi police station.
