Pastor Mackenzie Decries Police Abuse While In Custody

Pastor Paul Mackenzie of Good News International Church has stated that he feels abused in police custody.

When he was arraigned at the Shanzu Law Courts on Friday, the controversial preacher told the media that he had found peace in religion and expressed faith that Jesus will rescue him.

“Nahisi kudhulimika tu basi. Kwa hivyo najua Yesu wangu ninayemtumikia, ninayemwaminia atanisaidia” he said.

Mackenzie had been detained by police since April 15, when two boys were discovered murdered and buried in shallow graves in his Shakahola land.

It believed that they had starved to death, sparking investigations that have resulted in the exhumation of almost 240 remains from the vast forest.

According to government Chief Pathologist Johansen Oduor, autopsy examinations revealed that the victims died as a consequence of malnutrition, asphyxiation, and blunt force wounds to the cranium.

In May, the preacher testified before the Shanzu Magistrate Court about being held in appalling circumstances in police cells.

He wanted improved living circumstances, claiming that he and his co-accused had been forced to sleep on chilly floors and risked getting illnesses such as Pneumonia.

Mackenzie stated that they were given Ugali with a splash of a liquid’ that was claimed to be bean soup.
