Peter Salasya alleges an armed attack by individuals posing as DCI officers.

May 15, 2025 | Nairobi, Kenya — Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has made a startling claim that he was attacked by unidentified individuals who allegedly posed as officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

In a statement released to the public on his X account (formerly known as twitter), Salasya said the group of heavily armed men ambushed his convoy, disarmed his security detail, and pursued his vehicle in what he described as a coordinated and violent assault.

“These people, heavily armed and moving with force, ambushed my convoy, disarmed my security team—confiscating their firearms—and pursued my vehicle,” Salasya said. “They shot at my vehicle, aiming directly at me.”

The MP recounted escaping into a nearby bush with the help of one of his security officers who managed to flee during the chaos. He further claimed the attackers brandished at least 15 AK47 rifles and delivered a “chilling message,” which he chose not to disclose for security reasons.

Salasya maintained that he has refrained from attacking the government in his public engagements and has remained committed to peace and national progress.

“I have not been mentioning the government in my rallies, and I have stayed true to my call for peace and progress,” he stated.

The MP also indicated that he was being taken to an unknown location and urged relevant authorities, as well as the public, to remain alert to his situation.

As of the time of publishing, there has been no official comment from the DCI or the National Police Service regarding the allegations.
