Concerns have been raised about the condition of the Manda Airport in Lamu County after a plane got stuck in a pothole on the runway, hindering it from taking off.
In short undated video clips shared online, a Jambojet plane loaded with passengers and ready to take off got stuck in a pothole.
One of the airport workers could be seen trying to fill the pothole with stones and soil in order to get the plane off.
Passengers on the plane filmed the entire incident, with some even making light of it despite the obvious danger it posed to them and other passengers using the airport.
Kenyans are concerned about the incident, with some calling for the airport to be closed until proper repairs to the runway and other facilities are made.
The incident occurs two years after Jambojet resumed flights to Manda Airport after suspending them in 2017.
Jambojet blamed the suspension on the poor condition of the runway, which made it difficult for its large aircraft to land and take off.
It took four years for the Kenya Airways subsidiary to resume flights, but the latest incident shows that little has been done to improve the situation.
